Hot Chocolate Churros


Serves 3-4 people


  • 60g chickpea flour
  • 40g rice flour
  • 250ml water
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 50ml – 100ml plant milk
  • 25g muscovado sugar
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp cinnamon(optional)
  • 1-2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ cup sugar

Hot Chocolate:

  • 500ml water
  • 2 tbsp oats
  • 2 tbsp coconut flakes
  • 5-6 dates
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 50g dark chocolate(optional)


  1. Churros:Bring the water, oil, sugar and salt to a boil;
  2. Turn off the heat and add the flour into the hot water, mixing well until it forms a thick dough;
  3. Add Plant milk if the dough is too thick, it needs to be firm but still sticky;
  4. Using a piping bag, form the churros in a baking tray and bake at 180°C for about 30-40 min.
  5. Brush coconut oil around the warm churros and roll them in cinnamon sugar;
  6. Hot Chocolate: Blend all the ingredients together in a high speed blender until smooth;
  7. Bring to a quick boil and serve warm with the churros.
